Pensacola offers visitors a fascinating contrast: balmy sugar sand beaches, bold military strength, breezy Southern-style hospitality…all blended into one pleasing mix. Spend some time here to discover a city that’s surprisingly cultured and diverse, with far more indoor and outdoor pleasures than you can possibly fit into one trip. Pensacola International Airport claims the lowest Gulf Coast airfares.

A trip to the hands-on National Naval Aviation Museum is an unforgettable experience: 4,000+ artifacts and 150 restored aircraft proudly representing the best of our Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aviation. Create thrilling moments of your own inside the 360-degree full motion Flight Simulator and IMAX Theatre. Pensacola is also home to the famous Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. If you can’t catch one of their two annual shows in July and November, you can still watch them perform breathtaking 700 mph aerial stunts during March-November practice sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at the Naval Air Station.

There are more ways to celebrate the outdoors in Pensacola than you can count….both by land and by sea. A guided eco-tour by a local expert often reveals stunning wildlife sightings you may never find on your own. Emerald-green waters are perfect for snorkeling. Pensacola is known as the “Canoe Capital of Florida” for a reason! Paddle your way through picturesque rivers…or travel by kayak or tube if that’s your preference instead.

The best bet for Penscola shopping is downtown, where charming, waterfront shopping can be found at locally-owned shops and galleries. Wander through stores stocked with quality imported textiles, eclectic home furnishings, artesian creations, trendy clothing and hand-made jewelry. Indulge your sweet tooth with tasty Southern pecans and sweets at J.W. Renfroe Pecan Company. All the name brands you know and love are at Cordova Mall. Or multi-task: play beachside, then browse shopping delights on the Portofino Boardwalk.

Southern flavors and soulful music are always on the menu at the Five Sisters Blues Café, where southern cuisine gets kicked up a notch with Creole and Caribbean flavors, as well as live blues music. Pensacola’s original 1927 Old Firehouse now houses the very popular McGuire’s Irish Pub: a turn-of-the-century New York themed restaurant. Open since 1977, it’s most famous for its steaks and was actually named Steak House of the Year by the National Beef Council in 1998.

Pensacola offers the full gamut of entertainment: from sizzling Broadway shows and sleek martini bars to rowdy Irish pubs, down-home country fare and live bluegrass music. You can attend the ballet or opera; take in a symphony performance; or browse multiple art galleries. If you can, catch one of the seven downtown Gallery Night Fridays scheduled each year: this vibrant after-hours art event combines art, live music and a festive street party atmosphere.
